We discovered fairly early on that Owen seemed to be a lefty with all things sports-related (for writing and eating, he switches hands, so we aren't conclusive there yet). He has always done "backhand" shots with his hockey sticks...until we got him a lefty one...and he always hits the golf ball "backhanded" too because he is trying to be dominant with that left hand but not able to with the way the sticks/clubs are made. Throwing a ball is nothing different, but finding a glove for his right hand in his size is a little tricky. We have looked in Dicks whenever we go in and I have looked online in the past, but have only been able to find gloves that were $30 or more. That just seems like a lot to spend for just playing around, so we have been patient. Randy was in Dick's a few weeks ago looking for hockey equipment and found a lefty glove (i.e. one that goes on the right hand) for only $12, so we got it. This video is his first outing with his new glove. His catching skills are still, as Pappers put it, "fundamentally flawed", but he is definitely having fun and this video is too cute not to share. He watches a lot of baseball with his Daddy and has picked up on some of the pitcher's moves. He doesn't do it much in this video but his "wind-up" cracks me up! Who knows, perhaps one day that left hand can pay for his college tuition? Hey, a Mommy can dream, right?!?!

Brandon has taught Tanner to throw left and hit left. I guess its a good thing! Hopefully, our boys will be on the same college team. Won't that be fun?? Owen is already super good and what a great catch he made!!
ReplyDeleteHaha! I am pretty sure that catch was just luck. But, he is trying really hard now to catch the ball all the time. It only works out some of the time ;) Oh, how awesome would it be if they were on the same college team? I would love nothing more than for O to be a PIRATE someday!!!
