How many Christmas church services do you know that start like this, with the theme song to the local NFL team...???
We went to the Christmas service that was on Thursday night...the same night that the Steelers played the Panthers. So, prior to this week, Pastor Matt announced that the Thursday service would be "Steelers themed" and invited everyone to wear their Steelers jerseys if they wished. We had no idea what to expect, but when we walked into the church, there were Terrible Towels on the seats and Steelers stuff hanging everywhere. Then, at the beginning of the service, they showed highlights from past games/Superbowls. The best part was when Pastor Matt and his wife got on stage in Steelers jerseys. He is from Colorado and a huge Broncos fan, so this was big for him! He also gave away 2 tickets to that night's game, which was pretty awesome! Anyway, from the point that you see at the end of the video on, it was a very traditional (well...as traditional as a contemporary church service gets anyway) Christmas service. But, I just had to share the beginning and the story because we got a big kick out of it! Go Steelers! And, Happy Birthday Jesus!!
